Autumn Workshops

Saturday October 8th – Mixed Media 2- with Victoria Knight

An exploration of mixed media materials including collage . Learn about composition, texture and colour using a variety of water-based materials. In this workshop students will use landscape photographs and other source materials to explore a variety of mixed media techniques. This is a very active workshop, so please consider an apron or similar to protect your clothing.

Saturday October 15th - Rag Rugging with Jane Jackson and Margaret Kenny

Rag RugRag rugging is a traditional craft where textiles are used to make rugs, wall hangings, cushions etc. Learn the basic techniques under the gentle guidance of textile artists Jane Jackson and Margaret Kenny. No artistic talent or rag rugging skills required. We will provide you with all the skills, materials and equipment you need to create your own contemporary designs using this very traditional craft. Feel free to bring any interesting or favourite textiles you fancy using, as you can never have too much to choose from can you?

Tuesday October 18th - Mixed Media Drawing and line with Victoria Knight

Learn how to effectively use line and drawing within your paintings. An exploration of the quality and value of line in paintings using various drawing techniques and materials. The focus of this workshop will be still life.
This is a very active workshop, so please consider an apron or similar to protect your clothing.

Saturday October 22nd – Monotype with Georgina Bown

A fun and stimulating day workshop exploring the process of these exciting print techniques. The workshop will start with an introduction of Georgina's work currently on show at the gallery. The artist will then introduce the methodology and techniques of monoprint with some personal demonstrations before this very hands-on workshop begins.The aim of the workshop is to produce a series of sketches, starting with still life, hopefully landscape study and finally an abstract piece.

This workshop will inspire creativity and confidence with drawing.

No previous experience is required. All materials will be provided.

Saturday October 29th Towards Abstraction with Ann Gardner

In this course, we will explore methods of developing representational studies into more abstract images, using watercolour and a variety of drawing materials. This is a very active workshop, so please consider an apron or similar to protect your clothing.

Saturday November 12th Oils for beginners with Wendy Portway

A hands on class to get you started off with oil paints. Wendy will explain how to prepare your canvases, use the paints and spirits to maximise your enjoyment of the media. This is a very active workshop, so please consider an apron or similar to protect your clothing.

Saturday November 26th Techniques in Watercolour with Ann Gardner

Brush up on your watercolour skills with tips and techniques with Ann Gardner.

This will be a day of experimenting with pure watercolour and mixing watercolour with other materials, to produce more creative results. This is a very active workshop, so please consider an apron or similar to protect your clothing.

 

All classes start at 10am. The gallery will be open at 9.45 to students.

Classes are £60 per person, this includes all refreshments and lunch (please advise us before the workshop if you have any special dietary requirements).

Parking is available opposite the gallery or on the road by Memorial green.

All workshops are held on the first floor of the gallery, we do not have a lift.

All bookings require a £10 deposit. This is non refundable if you cancel 7 days before the workshop or do not attend.
